Matty Ice Breaks the Ice With The Rangers

Plays in First NHL Game in Blueshirts' Season Opener

Matt Gilroy began his NHL career with a solid performance for the New York Rangers.  Is anyone suprised that his plus/minus is already at +2 after just one game?

Gilroy skated for 20 minutes, including 3:21 on the power play, a big vote of confidence from Coach Tortorella toward the rookie blueliner.

You can read the game story from espn.com here.

Terriers' great Chris Drury scored a goal in the game for the Blueshirts.

Interesting sidenote, also playing for the Rangers tonight was former BC standout Brian Boyle.  Boyle split time between The LA Kings and their AHL affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, last season.
