Versus The Rest

How Does Hockey East Match Up?

Are all the teams in Hockey East so good that nobody can gain separation from one another?  Or is it more of a mediocre conference than some people are willing to admit?

Well let's run through Hockey East teams and how they have performed out of conference.

Amherst -- 3-0
Lowell -- 4-1
BC -- 1-0
Vermont -- 1-1
Mack -- 3-2
Maine -- 1-3
NU -- 2-1
BU -- 1-1
Providence -- 5-1

That means that overall, Hockey East teams have posted a 21-10 record against non-conference opponents.

For the most part, play in conference has been much more even.  The top team in the conference, Amherst, has just 8 points.  Many of the home and home series we have seen here early on have provided nail biters, and have often resulted in splits.  Hockey East also has 6 teams in the top 25 PairWise rankings (BU isn't one of them).

Initial returns indicate that even if BU is falling out of the elite teams in the nation this year, Hockey East is still hanging around as one of the best.
