Why Can't Anybody Just Win Two Games?

Wrapping Up Another Split Decision Weekend of Hockey East

Let's get to the honors first:

Player of the Week:  Chris Auger -- UML
Rookie of the Week: Pat Mullane -- BC
Defensive Player of the Week:  Brian Foster -- UNH

In a weekend of two game series, ties were the name of the game in many contests.  14 points were up for grabs, and they were spread out fairly evenly among a still tight Hockey East.

BC vs Maine

Boston College bested the Black Bears, barely, this weekend by taking three points from Maine.  On Friday night, Boston College snuck by Maine by the score of 4-3.  Parker Milner made a rare start for the Eagles, saving 23 of the 26 shots on goal.  Matt Price earned the first star of the game by netting the game winner for BC.

Maine salvaged a point on Saturday night at Alfond.  Much like BU, the Black Bears were leading 2-1 heading into the third before a furious BC rally yielded two quick goals to kick off the third period.  Also, like BU, Maine responded to put the tying goal home.  Robby Dee tied the game at three, and it would stay there.  Gustav Nyquist had a goal and an assist in the tie.

Northeastern vs Providence

The Huskies showed some fight at Matthews on Friday night when they beat up on the Friars, 4-1.  Tyler McNeely and Wade MacLeod each had a goal and an assist in the victory.

PC tried to bounce back Satuday when they toughed out a point thanks to Sophomore defenseman and White Plains, NY native Dan New.  New had two goals and an assist, including a clutch game-tying goal at 10:26 of the third period to help the Friars tie the game at 3.

Lowell vs Merrimack

The game of the week turned out to be a disappointment, as the River Clowns walked all over the Warriors.  Lowell continued their offensive dominance, scoring 6 goals en route to a 6-3 victory over Mack.  Paul Worthington and Scott Campbell each had two goals and an assist to lead the Warriors to the win.

With that, let's look at who got how many points this weekend.
