Mack Attack

Warriors Come To Agganis for Their First Playoff Appearance Since 2004

When the puck drops on BU-Merrimack at 7:30 on Friday night, it will be the end of a long playoff drought for the upstart Warriors.  Mack hasn't made it to the second season in six long seasons, and after an up and down year, you better believe they will be fired up to try to upset the established order and end the season of the defending national champs.

What will they be bringing into the Dog Pound when they get here?  Well Warrior Rink Rat, the extensive Mack blog, has the numbers on the Warriors.

Additionally, the Warriors have the 3rd best power play in the country, with a 22.9% conversion rate, and the best power play in Hockey East plat with a 23.5% rate.

We've seen Mack before, and it's been a shoot-out every time. That's what happens when you mix above average scorers with below average goaltenders. The two teams have combined for 29 goals in their three match-ups this season, with the winner tallying 6 each time.

One thing is for sure: the ridiculous power play combined with the first playoff appearance in six seasons means that the Terriers better stay out the box. So Gryba, Nicastro and Warsofsky, take notice.
